Saturday, 4 February 2012, 20:57:05

As expected, the charges of coach Arkadiusz Rusin did not have any difficulty beating the ambitious rivals from Leszno. The ‘orange’ players outclassed their rivals throwing them as many as 100 points, losing only 53.
The Polkowice player were a definite favourite of today’s match. At the same time, we had been sure that the ambitious Tęcza team, who due to a fair taking place in the Trapez hall, where the Leszno players play every day, faced CCC in Rawicz, was not going to give in easily. In the first action of the match Ewelina Gala tried to throw for three points. It was unsuccessful. The scoring was opened by Evanthia Maltsi, and a moment later her two points were added by Sharnee Zoll and after less than a minute the ‘orange’ players were leading 4:0. The first points for Tęcza were scored by the mentioned before Gala, who succeeded at her second attempt, to throw the ball into the CCC basket from behind the 6.75m line. A moment later another three-pointer was scored by Małgorzata Chomicka and the scoring was 6:4 for the Home team. After nearly six minutes the Leszno players were leading by 10:9. Then, however, CCC went through a 7:1 part, and two and a half minutes before the end of the first quarter they were leading 16:11. Eventually, the first quarter ended with charges of coach Arkadiusz Rusin winning by 24:15. The Polkowice players were dominating, especially in rebounds. Within 10 minutes they managed to collect 10 rebounds, and their rivals had only three of them.
The second quarter started with an accurate short shot by the American centre player of CCC Jantel Lavender. In the next actions the Polkowice players made use of their advantage in the low-post area. The point guard Zoll passed the balls to Megan Frazee and Lavender, and they made a use of their assets, and confidently completed the actions, making the CCC’s lead grow consistently. After 5 minutes of the second quarter the Home team was losing 19:37, and after eight minutes - 23:43. The last 120 seconds before the break were won 5:3 by the Leszno team and they went for their break 18 points behind our team which, taking into account the difference of potentials of either team as far as the players are concerned, actually decided on the result of the match.
After the change of sides the Home team players were still playing ambitiously, but they did not have much to say facing the rushing team from Polkowice. The CCC players crushed their opponents in the low-post area, where they ruled unquestionably. The biggest havoc was wreaked by Lavender, who was unstoppable. The American centre player of CCC threw during the whole match 22 points, adding 13 rebounds. The third quarter ended with the victory of coach Rusin’s charges by 29:15 and their lead before the beginning of the final quarter of today’s match grew to 32 points. Then it was clear that the Leszno players would add another lost match to their capital and the ‘orange’ players would score a win. The only question bothering the spectators in the hall in Rawicz was – would the Polkowice players throw 100 points? In the fourth quarter the number of points scored by CCC with each subsequent action was approaching the magic one hundred. Eventually, after a throw by the best on the court Lavender the hundred was reached. CCC defeated Tęcza 100:53.
